There are no holes being drilled into this dzi bead.</p>
<p>Some believed that the contrast between a modern dzi bead and an old one might be detected by the timing the holes drilled.</p>
<p>In a modern dzi,</p>
<ul>
<li>the holes are drilled ahead of its etching</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>both the holes drilled are very symmetrical or very straight</li>
</ul>
<p>whilst in an old dzi</p>
<ul>
<li>you can see that the holes drilled in from one side to the other might not symmetrical or that straight &#8211; one side the hole can be in the middle whilst the other side the hold is not right at the diameter but at the side<span id="more-79"></span></li>
<li>at the corner of these hole, you can also see corners that might have been runned/worned down in an uneven manner as a result of connecting the dzi bead with other harder crystals/stones</li>

<p>Of course, after saying that there are many more criteria in assessing a pure ancient dzi bead compared to a modern on.</p>
